For Further thought… Chapter 5
- You are just getting started in considering the fear of the Lord. At this point, find words for it and be sure that the fear of the Lord sounds good and is an aspiration. This is a gift that God gives to the wisest among us.
- When our hearts and the law of God meet, we tend to miss God’s grace. Go back to the Ten Commandments and consider how these reveal the character of God (Ex. 20). For example, they reveal that he is the faithful one who will not abandon his people (“You shall not commit adultery”). He is possessive. He wants us for himself.
- Discuss these two thoughts.
